There are so many fire extinguishers and to choose the right type can be a hard task if you not know the right one to choose. The are many different fire classes, the are 5 big categories of fire extinguisher types:
Class A – used for ordinary combustible materials like wood, paper and most common things that we have in our rooms.

  • Geometric symbol: green triangle;
  • pictogram: garbage can and wood pile burning;

Class B – is used when the fire involves flammable or combustible liquids like gas.

  • geometric symbol: red square;
  • pictogram: fuel container and burning puddle;

Class C – fire extinguisher from this category are used for fire involving electrical equipment.

  • geometric symbol: blue circle;
  • pictogram: electric plug and burning outlet;

Class D – extinguishers  are used for combustible metals, usually in laboratories.

  • geometric symbol: yellow decagon(star);
  • pictogram: burning gear and bearing;

Class K - this type of fire extinguisher are used in the kitchen where are involved cooking oils and fat.

  • geometric symbol: black hexagon;
  • pictogram: pan burning;

So please remember to check the fire extinguisher type before you try to attack the fire.
